Katakana (カタカナ)

Katakana is the second of the three Japanese writing systems. While Hiragana is used for native Japanese words, Katakana is primarily used for foreign loanwords, onomatopoeia, scientific terms, and emphasis. Like Hiragana, each character represents a specific syllable sound.
